Our farm is located just north of the Ohio/Michigan state line in the quaint rural community of Ottawa Lake Michigan. Our greenhouses are brimming with an assortment of breathtaking flowers, ranging from ranunculus, anemone and sweet peas in the spring, to luscious dahlias, asters and hydrangeas in the summer. All flower orders are cut within 24 hours of delivery. We pride ourselves on the freshness and uniqueness of our flowers.
We have a fundamental appreciation for the idiosyncrasies that make each bloom different and their function in floral design. Flowers are beautiful. But the business behind them isnāt always quite as pretty!
What many people donāt realize is just how much goes into running a flower shop. Fresh flowers are one of the most perishable products you can purchase. From the moment theyāre harvested, the clock starts ticking.
Theyāre grown, cut, packed, shipped, processed, cleaned, hydrated, and eventually placed into the hands of a floral designer who creates something special.
Unlike most retail products, flowers canāt sit on a shelf indefinitely. They require constant care and attention. And sometimes, despite our best efforts, Mother Nature simply doesnāt cooperate!
When you support a locally owned flower shop, youāre purchasing so much more than flowers.
Youāre paying for years of knowledge, creativity, experience, and craftsmanship. Youāre supporting the countless hours spent preparing, designing, cleaning, delivering, and caring for a product with a very short shelf life. Youāre also supporting a small business that takes financial risks every day.
Iām not sharing this for sympathy. After 38 years in the floral industry, I genuinely still love what I do!
This year, Sinkās Flower Shop celebrated 100 years of serving Findlay and the surrounding communities. Thatās a century of celebrations, memories, love, laughter, and tears. A legacy Iām incredibly proud to carry on.
Flowers arenāt meant to last forever. Theyāre meant to make moments special and create memories that last long after the flowers are gone.
